Biography of Cindi Spence Matt

Cindi Spence Matt was born in St. Paul, Minnesota. She graduated from Hill Murray High School in 1989. She is a 1993 summa cum laude graduate of Creighton University (Omaha, Nebraska), with a B.S.B.A. in accounting. She is a 1996 cum laude graduate of the University of Minnesota Law School. After graduating from law school, Cindi served as a judicial law clerk for the Honorable Bruce R. Douglas, Wright County District Court, where she gained invaluable insight into the court system and trial process. Cindi then joined the firm in 1998, and became a shareholder of the firm in 2002.

Cindi is a seasoned litigator, with a considerable amount of experience at all stages of the litigation process, including pretrial discovery, depositions, motion practice, and both court and jury trials. Cindi achieves positive results for her clients by focusing on detail and taking the time to thoroughly understand both the legal and non-legal issues involved in each clients’ particular case. Cindi understands the financial burden of litigation and she strives to efficiently and cost-effectively resolve legal matters for her clients.

Cindi’s practice areas primarily include civil litigation, probate and guardianships/conservatorships. She has achieved successful results for her clients in a wide variety of contested cases. Some of Cindi’s most rewarding cases have been assisting a client obtain a conservator for his elderly father, who was being financially and emotionally exploited by his caregiver; obtaining a settlement for a client who was subjected to the humiliation of a body cavity search by a sheriff’s department; and, obtaining full coverage for a client whose insurance company had denied his claim under an accidental dismemberment policy, when he had developed an infection that led to a double amputation of both legs. Whether her clients’ cases involve two thousand dollars or two million dollars, Cindi prides herself on vigorously asserting her clients’ position and achieving a successful, cost-effective resolution.

Cindi was recognized as a Rising Star by Minnesota Law & Politics in 2004 and 2005. Cindi has served as the secretary of the 18th District Bar Association in 2006, and is currently its treasurer. She is also a member of the Minnesota State Bar Association, MAGiC (Minnesota Association for Guardianship & Conservatorship), and PATH Crisis Nursery of Wright County’s advisory committee. Cindi also volunteers for the Wright County Volunteer Legal Clinic Program and is a Qualified Neutral on the Minnesota Supreme Court Neutral Rosters.

In her free time, Cindi enjoys running in races ranging from 5k to half-marathon, scrap booking, traveling and spending time with her family and friends.
